First things first!

Then What?
As you develop your “elevator” speech, practice it. This is a less than one-minute statement that gives the other person a general idea of what you do while it makes them want to hear more. If you are unsure what really works, try different ones out as you introduce yourself and see how the others respond.

During the First Couple of Weeks...

  • Study the membership lists and decide who would be the most likely to have a similar client base to yours.

  • Look up their web site (if they have one) and learn about them and their business.

  • Introduce yourself at meetings and set up one-on-one meetings outside of CEO meetings. This can be for breakfast, lunch, coffee, drinks… just what your schedules will allow. Make this your responsibility and not wait for the other person to invite you. These generally take one to two hours. A highly successful format is for both of you to discover how you might help the other person.

  • Have at least one or two one-on-ones per week.

  • After you have gone through your top priority list, make sure you have a separate meeting with all members.
